1. Welcome! In this simulation, you will learn how to migrate Material Master data using the ‘Migrate Your Data’ Fiori application in SAP S4 HANA
2. Let’s start by opening the SAP Fiori Launchpad. Search for the app: Migrate Your Data.
3. Click Migrate Your Data
4. This cockpit allows you to manage migration objects, upload templates, validate data, and monitor migration status. To begin data migration, we first create a migration project.
5. Select Migrate Data Using Staging Tables
6. Enter a meaningful project name and description. The project name helps identify and manage migration activities throughout the project lifecycle.
7. Type Material_HMC in Name
8. Click Mass Transfer ID, The Mass Transfer ID is automatically generated by the system. If required, you can modify it manually
9. Click Local SAP S/4HANA Database Schema
10. Click Step 2
11. Select Local Package
12. Click Step 3
13. Search for the migration object “Product” from the list.
14. Select Product
15. Click Move to Selected Migration Objects
16. Click Review
17. You can add Predecessor migration objects if needed. Since no additional objects are required, click on Do Not Add
18. Click Create Project
19. The migration project is now created Successfully. Click on our Migration Project
20. You can use the Running Activities or Monitoring anytime during the process option to monitor the progress.
21. Click View All Running Activities
22. Click Back
23. The system is now suggesting the next action to be performed. Click on Mapping Tasks
24. Click any where on the line to confirm the mapping one by one
25. Click here
26. select the value from the options available
27. Please select Take values from source file/staging table
28. Click Confirm
29. Similarly We confirmed the other mappings as well. Now click Back
30. Click on Download Template to download the migration template.
31. Choose the file type. For this demo, we are selecting the XML file format.
32. You can now see the downloaded template file. In the template, you can explore the available fields and many more options.
33. You can also see the mandatory fields in the template. Click Basic Data
34. Please enter all the required fields and save
35. Now that the template has been filled, the system suggests uploading the file. Click here to move forward.
36. Click Upload
37. Select the file to upload.
38. Click Back
39. Click on Monitoring to see the Progress
40. In the Monitoring option, you can see the migration status. Click Back
41. Click Prepare
42. Click Prepare Staging Tables
43. You can see that the preparation of the staging tables has started. Click Back
44. Click on “Mapping Tasks” to map the fields in the file.
45. You can confirm the mappings one by one, or confirm all at once if you are sure. For now, I am confirming all at once. Click Select all rows
46. Click on Confirm
47. Click OK
48. Using the Simulate option, we can test the migration process safely without creating real data in the system. Click Simulate
49. Click on Start Simulation
50. The simulation has completed successfully. If any errors occur, they can be resolved before proceeding. Since there are no errors in this case, click Back to continue the process.
51. Click on Migrate to start the data migration process.
52. Click on Start Migration to begin the migration process.
53. Select OK to execute the final data load.
54. Click Back
55. The system shows that the migration was completed successfully. Let’s now verify the migrated data in the system.
56. We are verifying the data in table MARA using transaction code SE16N. Enter the material number to search for the migrated record.
57. Click Execute
58. We can see that the material has been created successfully.
59. You have successfully completed the material migration simulation. Practice this workflow regularly to ensure accuracy, confidence, and readiness for real-world SAP projects.
