SAP FICO Course Introduction and History


Abidunnisa, the trainer for the SAP FICO course, introduced herself and discussed her 15+ years of experience in SAP FICO, both in finance and controlling. She has worked on various projects and is involved in corporate trainings. She will be leading the session and will also be the trainer for the controlling course. Abidunnisa also explained the history of SAP, which started with version 4.7 and has been continuously updated with more flexible features. However, due to technical issues, the session was interrupted and Abidunnisa was unable to continue.



Accounting vs Managerial Accounting Differences


Abidunnisa discussed the differences between accounting and managerial accounting, explaining that managerial accounting helps make internal decisions while accounting is for external reporting. She also explained that controlling is a module of SAP that provides supporting information to management for planning, reporting, and analyzing. Abidunnisa mentioned that controlling integrates with other modules like FI, CO, and MM to achieve product costing and profitability analysis. She also touched on the concept of operating concerns and profitability analysis.



Controlling Area Setup and Master Data


Abidunnisa discussed the setup of the controlling area, explaining that it can be assigned to one company code or multiple company codes. She also mentioned that the same company code cannot be assigned to multiple controlling areas. Abidunnisa further explained the concept of primary cost and revenue, and how they are integrated with the sales building process, material management, production, planning, and procurement. Cost Components and Controlling Document

She demonstrated how a controlling document is generated automatically when an FI document is posted, and how this document reflects the order value. Abidunnisa also mentioned the asset under construction part, which includes cost center, profit center postings, internal order settlements, and budget.

She also explained the concept of general controlling, call center accounting, and internal orders. Abidunnisa further discussed the importance of understanding the structure of enterprise, financial accounting, and the concept of non-leading ledger. Abidunnisa also mentioned the importance of understanding the allocation structures, primary GL account, and the integration of FI to MM. Abidunnisa discussed the concept of Copa, a profitability analysis reporting tool with different characteristics and value fields. She explained that it's used for operating concern with different overhead costs and modules. Abidunnisa also mentioned that they can create their own characteristics and value fields based on their requirements. She further discussed the different types of data structures, attributes, and environments for creating operating concerns. Abidunnisa also touched upon the topic of cost center accounting, internal order accounting, and the availability of standard reports for controlling. She concluded by mentioning that they would cover topics like material ledger overview, profitability analysis, and revenue recognition in future discussions.
