SAP FICO Consultant Roadmap and Learning
Parminder, the founder of Sastrageek solutions, led a session on the roadmap to becoming a SAP FICO consultant. He emphasized the importance of discipline and consistency in learning, highlighting that only 2% of people are self-motivated or self-governed. He also discussed the importance of live sessions and a buddy program for learning. The session was interactive, with Parminder asking participants about their experience and encouraging them to ask questions. He also mentioned that they offer a one-year community access for their courses, which includes live sessions and a dynamic content. The next SAP FICO batch is set to start in the first week of January.
CV Preparation and AI Tools
Parminder discussed the importance of having a well-crafted CV and the role of AI tools in the job market. He emphasized the need for practical application of knowledge and experience, suggesting a specialized course for CV preparation and a mentorship program for guidance. Parminder also highlighted the importance of gaining experience through implementation and support projects, and preparing for interviews through mock sessions and AI tools. He encouraged attendees to start applying their knowledge and preparing their CVs as they progress through the mastery course.
SAP FICO Training Programs Overview
Parminder discussed the various training programs and resources available for SAP FICO certification. He highlighted the importance of the Step Up Circles, which offer additional courses and a 200+ hour video library. He also mentioned the SAP Internship program, which provides hands-on experience in real projects, and the SAP GuruKul program, a one-year program for those not currently working. Parminder emphasized the need for dedication and effort in pursuing a career in SAP FICO. He also introduced Abida, a full-time working consultant with 15+ years of SAP FICO experience, who would be leading the next session on the structure of the training programs.
Exploring SAP System Capabilities and Roles
Abidunnisa introduced the SAP system, explaining that it is an integrated application for enterprise management, capable of handling various aspects of a company's operations. She clarified that SAP is not just for finance and accounting, but for all enterprise-related requirements. Abidunnisa also explained the concept of integrated modules in SAP, which allows data to flow and be shared among different modules. She mentioned that the SAP system is not just for accounting, but also for material management, sales and distribution, HCM, CRM, FSCM, basis, PP, production planning, product plant and maintenance, project systems, and controlling. Abidunnisa also discussed the role of a consultant in configuring the system for end users. She promised to demonstrate how to create a company from scratch, post transactions, and generate financial statements as part of the FICO training.
Coca-Cola Private Limited Entry Process
Abidunnisa discussed the process of posting entries for a company code, specifically for Coca-Cola Private Limited. She explained how to select the date, reference number, and general ledger (GL) accounts, and how to post entries for different expenses. Abidunnisa also mentioned that they had created 33 GL accounts as part of their training and would cover these in future sessions. She further explained the importance of enterprise structure and financial accounting in the implementation process. Abidunnisa also touched on the accounts payable module, explaining how to post entries and reconcile vendor accounts with main GL accounts. She emphasized that they would cover these topics in more detail during their training.
Accounts Payable and Receivable System
Abidunnisa discussed the configuration and functionality of a system related to accounts payable and accounts receivable. She explained how to create master records, post documents, route receipts to different bank accounts, and issue letters to customers who are not paying on time. She also demonstrated how to send remittance advice and how to void and issue checks. Abidunnisa emphasized the system's ability to handle end-to-end processes, from invoicing to payment, and its capacity to send up to nine levels of dunning letters to customers. She encouraged the team to ask questions and provided a test printout as an example.
Asset Accounting and Depreciation Process
Abidunnisa discussed the asset accounting process, including the creation of a chart of depreciation, depreciation methods, and integration with General Ledger (GL) accounting. She demonstrated how to create and assign GL accounts, and how to post assets and depreciation. Abidunnisa also explained the process of running depreciation for a company, including the use of a single click to execute depreciation for thousands of assets. She further discussed the retirement of assets and the automatic reflection of different GL entries based on configuration parameters. Lastly, she touched on the creation of financial statements for a company, including the appearance of depreciation amounts.
Financial Statement Reports and Training
Abidunnisa discussed the financial statement reports and the process of creating them from scratch. She mentioned that the training for CC. 0, 0 would cover the same process, but with different examples. Abidunnisa also explained the concept of end-to-end scenarios and the importance of understanding the business area and financial year. She demonstrated how to generate reports based on cost centers and how to handle different scenarios. Parminder then thanked Abidunnisa for the session and encouraged anyone with questions to ask. He also announced upcoming workshops and sessions, including a 3-hour SAP navigation workshop and a series of sessions starting on January 18th.
Raghav's Career Path and Specialization
Raghav, an experienced project manager with 6-7 years of experience in SAP and Activate methodologies, expressed his desire to become a solution architect. He was unsure whether to specialize in one module or go cross-functionally. Parminder suggested that Raghav should choose between the finance or supply chain wing, with SAP FICO being a mandatory module for the finance wing. Raghav decided to start with FICO and then branch off to other modules. Dipikka, a SAP MM consultant from TCS, asked about the skills needed for a new role in Australia and whether she should specialize in two modules. Parminder advised her to consider her experience and the opportunities available in the new location before making a decision.
Career Guidance and Training Programs
In the meeting, Dipikka and Parminder discussed Dipikka's upcoming trip to Australia in May. Parminder advised Dipikka to prioritize an internship, master the basics, and gain experience in sourcing and procurement. Parminder also suggested that Dipikka add a functional module overview for solution architects to her skill set. Ajay, another participant, was advised to pursue a career in production planning (PP) due to his mechanical engineering background. Parminder also clarified the structure of their training programs and encouraged participants to enroll in the SAP mastery program. Lastly, Subaru was advised to consider her end-user experience and domain expertise when deciding her career path.
