APO DP1 internal business warehouse

SUMMARY

📌 What is APO DP1 – Internal Business Warehouse? In SAP APO Demand Planning (DP1), all forecast and planning data is stored in an internal BW (Business Warehouse) structure.
DP1 refers to the Demand Planning component of APO, which uses BW InfoCube technology in the backend.

📂 Use Case
✅ Store forecast, sales history, and planning data in a multidimensional format.
✅ Enable time-series forecasting (Monthly/Weekly/Daily).
✅ Support reporting, simulations, and statistical models.

🔄 How It Works

1️⃣ Planning Area Creation

  • Defined via /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN
  • System automatically generates an internal BW InfoCube.

2️⃣ Data Structure

  • Characteristics → Product, Location, Customer, Time
  • Key Figures → Sales, Forecast, Promotion, etc.

3️⃣ Planning Activity

  • Done in /SAPAPO/SDP94 (Planning Book)
  • Changes saved directly into BW cube

4️⃣ Data Flow
ECC → BW (Historical Data) → APO DP
APO DP Forecast → Released to SNP / PPDS

🛠️ Example

Planning Area: ZDP_PLAN
Key Figure: Final Forecast
Month: March → 1,500 Units

Planner updates in Planning Book → Data stored in BW cube → Used for supply planning.

📊 Key Tcodes

/SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN – Planning Area
/SAPAPO/SDP94 – Interactive Planning
/SAPAPO/MC8E – Data Transfer

Conclusion

APO DP1 uses an internal BW architecture for structured, time-based forecasting.
It ensures scalable demand planning and seamless integration with supply planning modules like SNP and PP/DS.
